Reflecting on a Two-Year Milestone in Medical Device Sales: Insights from a Former Personal Trainer to Regional Manager

Two years into my journey within the medical device sales industry, the adventure from transitioning out of personal training into becoming a Medtronic Full Line Representative, to elevating a low-performing territory into the top 10, and finally, to overseeing the Western US as a Regional Manager for Inovus Medical, has been exhilarating and profoundly educational. 

This experience has not only shaped my career but also offered invaluable lessons for those looking to break into and succeed in the medical device sales sector.

Essential Strategies for Success in Medical Device Sales

  1. Continuous Learning is Your Greatest Tool

The medical device sales field is perpetually evolving. Staying informed and learning from those with more experience or knowledge is crucial for success. Embrace every opportunity to learn, as it's the foundation of growth and achievement in this industry.

In medical device sales, your preparation level directly correlates with your success. Going beyond the necessary—triple checking your work, ensuring you have additional supplies for every surgery—demonstrates your commitment and reliability, key traits for success in this industry.

Understanding that not every prospect will convert into a sale is vital. Invest your energies wisely, focusing on genuine leads and opportunities that show potential for mutual growth and success.

Ambition can sometimes draw criticism, especially from those who may feel threatened by your success. Stay focused on your goals, maintaining a positive outlook and resilience in the face of adversity.
