Reflections on 2 Years in Medical Device Sales: Lessons Learned and Tips for Success

As I celebrate my two-year journey in Medical Device Sales, I'm excited to share the insights and experiences that have shaped my career. From transitioning from a personal trainer to becoming a Regional Manager for Inovus Medical, it's been an incredible ride filled with growth and learning opportunities. 

Here are some valuable lessons I've learned along the way, which I believe can help you break into and succeed in the field of Medical Device Sales.

Key Lessons and Tips

  1. Be a Sponge

Embrace a mindset of continuous learning. Stay open to acquiring new knowledge and skills, as there's always room for growth and improvement in this dynamic industry.

  1. Come Prepared

Preparation is key to success. Whether it's for a sales pitch or a surgical procedure, ensure you're thoroughly prepared and equipped to exceed expectations. Going the extra mile can make all the difference.

  1. Qualify Your Leads 

Not every prospect is a viable lead. Similarly, not every company or surgeon will be a suitable fit for your sales efforts. Focus your time and energy on prospects that show genuine interest and align with your goals.

  1. Embrace Criticism

In the pursuit of success, you may encounter criticism or resistance from others. Remember that it's a natural part of the journey. Stay resilient and focused on your goals, regardless of detractors.

  1. Set Unrealistic Goals 

Aim high and dream big. Setting ambitious goals pushes you to strive for excellence and achieve more than you ever thought possible. Even if you fall short, you'll still surpass expectations.

Reflecting on my journey fills me with gratitude for the opportunities I've had and the growth I've experienced. Alongside my personal achievements, I'm proud to have helped over 1200 individuals break into Medical Device Sales, enabling them to embark on their own rewarding journeys.
